The Cataclysmic Side of Drug Abuse and Alcoholism

Nowadays, in the modern world, one can easily find people desperately in need of
drugs and certain tastes of alcohol, to which they have grown addicted to, in the past few decades. The problem is that people don’t understand the harmful side of these narcotics; probably since these unsuspecting people are taking these stimulants while in a mental state of imbalance, such as depression.

People may try to avoid drugs, but this avoiding can soon change into an
addiction. For example, a teenager does his best to avoid drugs. But one day, as he was searching for his friend amongst the other people in a party, he sees his best friend taking drugs. Curious and anxious about how drugs actually taste and how they affect the body, his friend may easily stimulate the keen teen to take one and try for himself.
Thus, the unsuspecting teen gets addicted.

Who falls prey to these toxins? And who is the predator? Well, drugs are mostly weapons used to kill the social and mental well being of people, especially college teenagers. There are not one, but, two predators. The predators who use these toxic weapons are not only the cartels, who hide out in anonymous safehouses but the hawkers and pedlars who sell these articles anonymously in different forms.

Drugs are not the only things to be worried about.

Alcoholism is also a very harmful and addictive habit. The same teenager, whom I mentioned in the story above, can get obsessive about drinking alcoholic drinks, such as beer and wine. Some drugs, such as antipyretics, analgesics, antihistamines, and laxatives are taken for pharmaceutical purposes, but the others are just for inducing pleasure and a feeling to want more.

A mental imbalance is of various types—depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, etc. It is a cause and consequence of drug abuse and All this obsession and addiction has to do with the problem of the state of mental imbalance. So how can one correct it? Don’t be afraid when you read the following statement: Mental imbalance can’t be cured. However, one can learn to manage it more efficiently. One has to about coping with stress and emotions. Mental disorders are not like a disease, which can be cured like other diseases caused by the infestation of pathogenic organisms in our bodies. So, even if one thinks that he is successfully treated for a mental sickness, such as depression, he may have a bout of it later. Since depression is the most powerful of other socio-mental diseases, one should learn to handle it in such a way that it doesn’t become a very big obstacle in his life. Or if he is unable to do it himself, he may also take the help of psychological
therapists, who help people cope with stress and emotions.

As for the predators that wait for their victims, they should be sentenced to
Capital Punishment. The justification of this punishment is very apparent and obvious.
These predators practically take away the life of the person they are selling drugs to, so, their lives should also be taken away. They may be also sentenced to life imprisonment and heavy fining.
The cartels can get across international boundaries through tunnels and
unfenced areas. These tunnels and other suspicious regions should be continuously
monitored to restrict the movement of the cartels. This is already being done on the
international boundary of Southern USA and Mexico.

Life skills are very important subjects that need to be taught to students in
schools. They help the children to grow up to be ideal citizens of a nation, and also an asset to it. Teenagers can be taught about drug abuse as part of necessary life skills. They can be taught how our social enemies, the pedlars, and hawkers, can trick us into buying drugs by the trade of certain articles that have the possibility of containing drugs, such as certain suspicious sweets.

You can also make a huge difference, by spreading awareness about drug abuse in your locality. Because, you have the power to make a variability in the dark history of your nation, or even, of the planet.
